1Deregister before pickup

Deregister the car online via the official i-Kfz portal, or in person at your local Zulassungsstelle. This must be done before the driver arrives — they cannot take the car until it is deregistered.

2Remove and keep your licence plates

Once the car is deregistered, the licence plates are no longer valid and must be removed before the driver arrives. Keep the plates — you can return them to the registration office or retain them for future use. We can also take care of removal if you prefer.

3Send us your confirmation

After deregistration you will receive a confirmation (Abmeldebescheinigung). Please email us a copy as soon as you have it.

Don’t forget this step

We can only finalise your sale once we have a copy of your deregistration confirmation.

In short
  • Deregister online (i-Kfz) or at your local Zulassungsstelle before pickup
  • Remove the plates — they are invalid after deregistration — and keep them
  • Email us your Abmeldebescheinigung once received
